Southern Hickorynut (previously called Ouachita Creekshell)

Synonyms: Obovaria jacksoniana, Villosa arkansasensis

Distribution: Distributed from Alabama west to eastern Texas, and in the Mississippi embayment as far north as southeastern Missouri. In Oklahoma occurs in the Blue, Boggy, Kiamichi, Little, Glover and Mountain Fork rivers in southeastern Oklahoma.

Life History and Ecology: Typically found in medium-sized rivers with slow to moderate current and medium-sized gravel substrate. Long-term brooder that uses a cryptic lure. Fish host(s) have not been identified. Periodic life history strategy.
